NCAA Game Summary - Kent State At Temple

Saturday, November 17, 2007

(Sports Network) - Vaughn Charlton threw for 191 yards and a touchdown as the Temple Owls defeated the Kent State Golden Flashes, 24-14, in Mid-American Conference action at Lincoln Financial Field.

Charlton completed 18-of-27 pass attempts, as Temple (4-7, 4-3 MAC) snapped a two-game slide. Dy'Onne Crudup was his main outlet, pulling down seven balls for 85 yards and a score in the victory. Daryl Robinson paced the ground game with a career-best 105 yards on 17 carries, while Jason Harper added 79 yards and a score on 22 totes.

Jon Brown had a rough game under center for Kent State (3-8, 1-5), as he threw for just 76 yards and four interceptions. Eugene Jarvis ran for 57 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries, as the Flashes dropped their sixth game in a row.

After a scoreless first quarter, Jarvis scampered 21 yards for a touchdown to give Kent State a 7-0 lead late in the second period.

Jake Brownell hit a 27-yard field goal with just over a minute left in the first half and Temple went into the break down 7-3.

Just over five minutes into the third quarter, Brownell connected on a 30-yard field goal for the Owls.

Ken State then recovered a blocked punt in the end zone to push its lead to 14-6.

It took Temple less than two minutes to respond, as Harper rumbled nine yards for a touchdown. The two-point attempt, though, was off the mark.

The Owls took their first lead of the game just over two minutes into the fourth quarter, as Charlton threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Crudup.

Brownell than nailed a 26 and 32-yard field goal late in the fourth to seal the 24-14 victory for the Owls.

Temple racked up 375 total yards in the contest, while holding Kent State to just 124 yards.

The Owls' four league victories are their most since 1967, when the program was a member of the Middle Atlantic Conference.
