NCAA Game Summary - Temple At Western Michigan

(Sports Network) - Mark Bonds ran for 105 yards and a touchdown, as the Western Michigan Broncos closed out their season with a 16-3 win over the Temple Owls in Mid-American Conference action at Waldo Stadium.

Tim Hiller threw for 276 yards and a touchdown for Western Michigan (5-7, 3-4 MAC). Herb Martin paced the receiving corps with 100 yards on seven catches.

Vaughn Charlton had a brutal day under center for Temple (4-8, 4-4), completing just 6-of-25 passes and finishing with 92 yards through the air. He was also sacked six times.

Branden Ledbetter spotted the Broncos a 6-0 lead with a five-yard touchdown reception from Hiller at the 12:46 mark of the second quarter. Mike Jones' extra-point attempt was blocked.

Temple kicker Jake Brownell made it a 6-3 game with a 24-yard field goal with 6:35 to play in the half.

Bonds capped off a five-play, 61-yard drive with a one-yard touchdown plunge in the opening minutes of the second half, giving the Broncos a 13-3 lead.

WMU kicker Chris Kelly added a 33-yard field goal later in the quarter to account for the game's final score.

Temple's offense was virtually nonexistent, as the Owls finished with just six first downs and 146 yards of total offense for the game. Ledbetter's first- quarter TD grab was the 14th of his career, which sets the school's all-time mark.
