NCAA Game Summary - T-C-U At San Diego State

Sunday, November 25, 2007

(Sports Network) - Joseph Turner racked up a career-high 226 rushing yards and four touchdowns to lead the TCU Horned Frogs to a 45-33 victory over the San Diego State Aztecs in a Mountain West Conference clash.

Andy Dalton completed 23-of-39 passes for 298 yards in the win for TCU (7-5, 4-4).

Kevin O'Connell threw for 366 yards and two touchdowns in defeat for San Diego State (4-7, 3-4).

San Diego State completely dominated the first quarter, building a 17-0 lead after 15 minutes of action. After a 44-yard field goal by Garrett Palmer, O'Connell threw a 97-yard touchdown pass to Chaz Shilens, marking the longest pass play in program history and the longest play ever surrendered by TCU. Less than one minute later, the Aztecs got into the end zone again, this time on a three-yard run by Davon Brown.

TCU stormed back with three unanswered rushing touchdowns in the second quarter. Ryan Christian scored on a two-yard run, Dalton had a 14-yard touchdown, and Turner reached paydirt on a five-yard scamper to put the Horned Frogs ahead by a score of 21-17.

To San Diego State's credit, it did manage to regain the lead at 24-21 just before intermission on a six-yard touchdown pass from O'Connell to Brett Swain.

Turner scored three touchdowns in the third quarter alone on runs of 9, 14 and 41 yards. The only third-quarter points for the Aztecs came on a field goal, and San Diego State trailed 42-27 heading into the final frame.

TCU scored its final points of the game on a 33-yard field goal less than five minutes into the fourth quarter. O'Connell did score a 12-yard touchdown run with less than two minutes remaining in the game, but the Aztecs still trailed by double figures after that play and ran out of time.

The Horned Frogs finished the contest with 39 first downs and 694 total yards, including over 300 yards both rushing and receiving.
