Muncie, IN -- (Sports Network) - Nate Davis' five touchdown performance fueled a Ball State 41-20 victory over the Toledo Rockets in a Mid-American Conference battle at Scheumann Stadium.

Davis' performance helped the Cardinals (6-5, 4-2 MAC) become bowl eligible. The quarterback threw for 265 yards on 14-of-20 throws and three touchdowns. He also plowed in two touchdowns for good measure. Dante Love was Davis' big- play threat in the passing game, brining in five balls for 128 yards and two scores. Chris Clancy had a fine night toting the rock while rushing for 103 yards and a score.

Aaron Opelt and the Rockets' (5-6, 3-4) offense had a solid opening quarter, but could not find a rhythm after the hot start. Opelt, who left the game early in the fourth quarter with an injury, hit on 20-of-30 pass attempts for 203 yards, a touchdown and an interception. His go-to-guy was Stephen Williams, as the two hooked up nine times for 135 yards. Jalen Parmele found success running the football, finishing the night with 123 yards and a touchdown.

Parmele sparked a high-scoring first quarter with a six yard touchdown run just 28 second into the ball game.

Just 51 seconds later, Davis found Darius Hill for 27 yards to tie the score at seven.

Opelt brought the Rockets right back down the field, capping off a 13-play, 72-yard drive with a nine-yard touchdown strike to Nick Moore.

On Toledo's next possession, Alex Steigerwald would kick a 31-yard field goal to put the Rockets up 10.

Still in the first quarter, Davis hooked up with Love on a 39-yard touchdown, but the missed extra point made it a four-point game.

After the fireworks in the opening frame, Steigerwald put a 27-yarder through the uprights to make the game 20-13 in favor of Toledo. It was the last score of the game for the Rockets.

Davis' one-yard dive into the end zone late in the second quarter deadlocked the game at 20 heading into the locker room.

On the first drive of the second half, Davis again rushed in from a yard out to give the Cardinals their first lead of the game.

Another long pass to Love, this time a 35-yard connection, put BSU up two touchdowns late in the third quarter.

Chris Clancy's one-yard touchdown plunge midway through the fourth quarter capped off 28-straight unanswered points to end the game for Ball State.

Despite giving up 417 yards of offense, the Cardinals' defense clamped down in the second half in helping Ball State pull off the victory.
