Saturday, September 20, 2008

(Sports Network) - Andre Anderson carried 38 times for 157 yards and scored twice, lifting the Tulane Green Wave to a 24-10 triumph over the UL-Monroe Warhawks in non-conference action at the Superdome.

Kevin Moore went 19-of-32 for 272 yards, one TD and one INT in helping the Green Wave (1-2) break into the win column for the first time this season.

For UL-Monroe (1-3), quarterback Kinsmon Lancaster was sacked four times and managed only 118 yards through the air.

Tulane took the opening kick and drove right down the field, with Anderson crossing the goal line on a nine-yard run less than two minutes into the game.

With less than a minute remaining in the first quarter, Albert Williams broke loose for a 37-yard touchdown run to give the Green Wave a 14-0 lead.

Tulane took a 17-0 lead on kicker Ross Thevenot's 24-yard field goal with seven seconds remaining in the half.

UL-Monroe finally cracked the scoreboard at the 8:44 mark of the third quarter, when Radi Jabour booted a 47-yarder.

But the Green Wave quickly dispatched of any hope for a comeback, as Moore hooked up with Anderson for a 19-yard touchdown pass, capping a six-play, 82- yard drive.

The Warhawks could only manage a four-yard Darrell McNeal touchdown run the rest of the way.

The Green Wave converted 11-of-18 third downs, which helped them to hold an 11-minute edge in time of possession.
