New Orleans, LA -- (Sports Network) - Andre Anderson set a career-high with 219 yards on 36 rushes with a touchdown, and also caught four balls for 38 yards to lead the Tulane Green Wave past the SMU Mustangs, 34-27, in a Conference USA duel. Kevin Moore threw for 254 yards, three touchdowns and an interception on 19- of-24 passing for Tulane (2-2, 1-1 C-USA). Jeremy Williams hauled in six passes for 124 yards and scored twice, while Alan Mitchell had just one catch for 23 yards but made it count, as it went for a touchdown. Bo Levi Mitchell tallied 256 yards on 21-of-44 passing with three scores and two interceptions for SMU (1-4, 0-2). Emmanuel Sanders caught nine passes totaling 115 yards and scored once, while Aldrick Robinson had four grabs for 106 yards and a TD. Terrance Wilkerson also had a touchdown catch in defeat. Down by 14 points, SMU took its next drive 69 yards -- with help from three 15-yard penalties from the Tulane defense -- into the end zone on a 13-yard TD grab by Wilkerson. The score made it a one-possesion game, 34-27, with 2:03 left in the contest. Opting against an onsides kick, Kellis Cunningham gave the ball a boot and Tulane started out at its own 10. On the second play of the drive, Anderson broke a 40-yard run, then a four-yard run, after which Moore was able to take a knee and run out the clock. Neither school was able to produce on their respective first drives, and on SMU's second possession David Skehan intercepted a pass for Tulane and took it to the Mustangs' 39-yard line. Three plays later, Moore found a wide-open Alan Mitchell for a 23-yard touchdown strike to give the Green Wave a 7-0 lead with 8:33 left in the first. The TD grab was the first reception for Mitchell in a Tulane uniform. Tulane's next drive resulted in a 32-yard field goal from Ross Thevenot that made it 10-0 heading into the second quarter. The Green Wave held the Mustangs to a three-and-out and Tulane's ensuing possession resulted in a three-play, 72-yard drive that was capped as Moore hit Williams on a 51-yard scoring strike to make it a 17-point game just under 1 1/2 minutes into the second stanza. The Mustangs answered on their next possession as Robinson hauled in a 45-yard TD pass to close out a four-play, 62-yard drive that lasted 2:17 and made it a 17-7 game. Completions of 32 yards and 29 yards by Moore led to a one-yard TD run by Anderson on Tulane's next drive. After holding SMU to a punt, Moore found Williams for a sideline pass that turned into a 21-yard touchdown scamper that made it 31-7, which would hold up through the half. A 25-yard field goal by SMU's Thomas Morstead made it a 21-point game just over three minutes into the third quarter, and Justin Smart's interception for the Mustangs on the ensuing Tulane drive led to a 49-yard kick to make it 31-13. With 50 ticks left in the third, the Mustangs embarked on a drive that bridged the final two quarters. The team got the ball at its own 20, but three passes to Robinson, including a 42-yard bomb, saw SMU at the Waves' 31-yard line to start the fourth. Three plays later, Sanders hauled in an 18-yard reception in the back of the end zone to pull SMU within 31-20 just 39 seconds into the fourth. The Green Wave ate up almost six minutes on their next drive, but were forced to punt. However, Bo Levi Mitchell was intercepted on the very next play which led to Thevenot hitting a 33-yard field goal to increase the lead to 34-20 with 4:01 showing on the clock.
