Miami, FL -- Johnny Quinn's seven-yard touchdown reception late in the third quarter proved to be the difference as the North Texas Mean Green slipped past the Golden Panthers of Florida International, 13-10, in a Sun Belt Conference event from FIU Stadium.

Quarterback Daniel Meager connected on 10-of-15 pass attempts for the Mean Green (2-3, 2-1 SBC), leading to just 79 yards and the lone score for the visitors.

The Panthers (1-4, 0-2) were paced by Josh Padrick who converted 20-of-32 passing for 243 yards and one touchdown, but was also picked off twice in the setback.

FIU managed to build a 10-0 lead in the first quarter thanks to a 25-yard field goal by Adam Moss and a two-yard scoring reception by Samuel Smith.

Two field goals by Nick Bazaldua, of 20 and 41 yards, drew North Texas to within a point at the break at 7-6.

With 1:59 to play in the third frame Quinn capped a brief three-play, 23-yard drive with his game-winning TD catch.

The Mean Green won the contest despite generating only 226 yards of total offense and converting just 1-of-14 on third down.
