Charlotte Walk to Defeat ALS™ - Ballantyne Corporate Park
WHAT:The Walk to Defeat ALS, the ALS Association’s signature event, will be held in Charlotte on Saturday, May 31, 2008. The five kilometer walk will take place at Ballantyne Corporate Park.Registration begins at 9AM with a ribbon-cutting ceremony following to begin the Walk. The family-friendly event will feature activities including face painting for kids, a prize raffle, and live music.“The community involvement and business support of the Charlotte Walk have been phenomenal in terms of their dedication to the cause and willingness to help,” said Candice Thompson, Charlotte Walk to Defeat ALS Coordinator. “The growth thus far has been spectacular and I am excited about how much this Walk will raise, and in turn, how many this Walk will reach.” Last year, the Charlotte Walk to Defeat ALS raised over $150,000 which supported the Chapter’s services and programs for persons with ALS (PALS). The goal for this year’s Walk is to raise $165,000.All proceeds from the Charlotte Walk to Defeat ALS will go to The ALS Association’s Jim “Catfish” Hunter Chapter. The Catfish Chapter, located in Raleigh, North Carolina, provides services and grants to PALS throughout North Carolina and supports research on a global scale. The Charlotte Walk to Defeat ALS is one of six Walks that will take place in North Carolina in 2008.
