Activists, CMPD will gather for anti-gun violence rally on Saturday

Neighbors, political officials and community leaders are prepared to take a united stand against gun violence at the Not One More Gun Violence Awareness Rally on Saturday at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church on Beatties Ford Road.
Not One More, a nonprofit formed by community activists determined to save the lives of young people, organized the rally in partnership with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
The organization’s goal is to raise awareness of gun violence within the community and honor the lives that have been lost due to gun violence.
“The loss of my son in 2005 impacted my life in so many ways and now I have this opportunity to help youth and adults who are affected by gun violence as well,” said Kyle Goodson, founder of Not One More.
Gun violence survivors, Charlotte-Mecklenburg students and political leaders are among the speakers for the event.
They will address topics including prevention of mass shootings, impact of gun violence on youth and effective ways to support gun laws and restrictions.
The rally will be held from 9 a.m. to noon. Attendees are asked to wear orange in support of gun violence prevention.
