CHARLOTTE, N.C. - People in the Ballantyne area are getting behind our Steve's Coats for Kids drive in a big way.
Companies at Ballantyne Corporate Park are collecting coats for the Channel 9 drive.
Chief meteorologist Steve Udelson was there Tuesday afternoon to see what's come in so far.
A representative of one of those companies -- Bissell -- told Udelson the cold weather has spurred donations.
“It is so hard to imagine that there are people out there braving these freezing temperatures with no source of warmth, but it's the reality for so many in our area,” Bissell community director Hailey Rorie said.
Their goal is 2,500 coats.
This is the second year the businesses are participating in the coat drive.
All the businesses located in the corporate park have collection bins.
Their employees and customers are donating. They want to invite people in the community to stop by there as well to drop off donations.
They are collecting through Friday, so if you live or work near Ballantyne Corporate Park, stop by and donate.
