Over $1 million raised at Greater Charlotte Heart walk

Over $1 million was raised at this year's Greater Charlotte Heart Walk.

WSOC-TV's Erica Bryant and Scott Wickersham and thousand of walk participants came together to support the American Heart Association's mission of saving and improving lives from heart disease and stroke.

Funds raised will help support research for new treatments, support services for survivors and their families, and prevention programs.

Designed to promote physical activity and heart-healthy living, the Heart Walk creates an environment that's fun and rewarding for the entire family. During the Greater Charlotte Heart Walk, participants leave the day equipped with the knowledge to make a lifestyle change.

The American Heart Association is the largest voluntary health organization dedicated to defeating heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases. The American Heart Association’s mission is to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
