Still Hope For Students Unable To Graduate

Tuesday, May 27, 2008

There is still hope for those students who, for some reason, haven't finished their requirements to be able to graduate this June.

CMS Superintendent Peter Gorman said parents whose children aren't graduating have already been notified.

"We do have a summer school option we offer,“ he said. “That's the first thing to look at, and then if we're not successful with CMS, we have a great relationship and partnership with (Central Piedmont Community College)."

Many of the students who almost didn’t graduate last year went on to college and others are in now in jobs.

Whatever the case, Gorman said, that high school diploma is key.

“Their ability to be gainfully employed is so impacted by not graduating from high school. They become an individual that has a hard time contributing, holding a fine job they really want to be doing, and it just impacts their whole life," he said.

Gorman has written a letter to parents about summer school. You can see it by clicking here.
