Providence Day School is an independent Transitional Kindergarten (TK) through Grade 12 college preparatory school located in southeast Charlotte on a forty-five acre campus. Providence Day operates on a rotating schedule to alleviate to alleviate the problem of school holidays or extracurricular activities frequently affecting the same classes. The school year is divided into two semesters for Middle and Upper School with report cards issued at the end of each semester. Middle and Upper School students receive interim reports every six weeks. Lower School students receive report cards quarterly. Technology
With over 700 networked computers on campus, technology is highly regarded as an educational tool. The Dickson-Hemby Technology center includes four computer labs devoted to student instruction and use. Teachers use wireless laptop computers, document cameras, Smart boards, Palm Pilots as well as video and digital cameras for instruction. The majority of classrooms have ceiling mounted projectors. There are 2-3 desktop computers in every lower, middle and upper school classroom. All faculty members are provided with wireless laptop computers. College Placement
Providence Day School is a college preparatory school with a national reputation for excellence. More than seventy-five percent of PDS students take Advanced Placement courses which may be accepted as college credit. Typically, twenty-five percent of our graduates qualify as second semester college freshmen and another ten percent graduate with enough credits to enter college as sophomores.
