CMS Officials Want Parents To Weigh In On School Closing

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg School officials are asking parents in south Charlotte to come to a meeting Thursday night to discuss the possibility of tearing down their children's school.The school board is set to vote next week on a proposal to demolish Marie G. Davis Middle School on Griffith Street.The plan would replace the school with a military magnet.The school a letter home to parents earlier this week. It says "Marie G. Davis Middle School will be rebuilt from the ground up. Work on the new school will begin in June 2006."Parents can learn more about the plan at the meeting Thursday night at the middle school beginning at 6:30 p.m.
