Andre 3000 joins cast of AMC series ‘Dispatches From Elsewhere'

PHILADELPHIA — Outkast's Andre 3000 has joined the cast of "Dispatches from Elsewhere," a 10-episode series on AMC that started production this week in Philadelphia. The network announced the casting Wednesday.

The series stars Jason Segel of "How I Met Your Mother" fame. He also created the show, which will be executive produced by Alethea Jones. Segel will direct the first hour-long episode. Jones is slated to direct several other episodes in the series.

"Dispatches from Elsewhere" is a drama about a group of people who stumble onto a puzzle hiding behind everyday life and discover an ever-deepening mystery. It was first announced by AMC last year.

Andre 3000, whose real name is Andre Benjamin, has previous acting credits that include ABC’s “American Crime" and film roles in "Four Brothers" and "Be Cool," among others. He played Jimi Hendrix in the 2013 movie, “Jimi: All Is By My Side."
