Theatre Charlotte is North Carolina's oldest Community Theatre, with a production history dating from 1927. As a non-professional venue, this theatre is heavily dependent upon community support from the Metrolina area and the talents of its volunteer force. During the past 72 years these factors have combined to create a reputation for excellence unrivalled in the Southeast.

Since 1941, the theatre has been housed at 501 Queens Road, located in the heart of the historic Myers Park district of Charlotte. The theatre boasts over 2600 performances of mainstage productions, an annual participation of approximately 500 volunteers, and education outreach programs that serve the schools and the community at large.
