Barnabas Training Level FourPeer Supervision Barnabas Training—Levels for growing. . .Level 1 helps us to see more clearly while looking into the life of a friend and to discover ways in which we don’t see well.Level 2 focuses on the application of the Barnabas model with others.  We learn to listen, to ask better questions, and to observe with a keener, more discerning mind and heart.Level 4 helps us grow in confidence as we explore real-life situations where we are caring for others.  It is a context for receiving feedback from peers and a Barnabas Staff counselor.  What do I need to be prepared for?Peer Supervision is an experiential process requiring personal engagement.  Feedback will be compassionate but at times intrusive.  This is not for the weak at heart.  You bring real life, care-giving situations and a staff person leads the discussion into your “case.”  A warning here: we believe that the best way to improve your skills and to understand the person you are caring for is to better know your own heart.  So, while these sessions are built around the examination of a “client,” we often find ourselves talking about the “caregiver.”  What are the requirements?Level 4 meets 6 times, every other week, over 12 weeks (2 hours each session).  You must be involved in caring for others and desire to grow.   Prerequisite:  Completion of Barnabas Training Level 2.  Groups will be offered Mondays 6:30-8:30pm starting Monday 2/18/13.What does this prepare me to do?Hopefully, it will be a tool that deepens our dependence upon Christ and simultaneously increases our confidence as we better know ourselves and see more clearly into the hearts of others.  As leaders or members of small groups, we will be able to love more deeply.  Graduates should feel more able to talk with friends who struggle—more able to move into the realities of life and from there to the relevance of a Savior.      Please contact Jamie Swartzendruber at the Barnabas Center with questions     (jamie@thebarnabascenter.org or 704-365-4545 x315).  Scholarships are available based on income level.
