Ballroom dancing, from the hot and sultry latin dances to sassy foxtrots and romantic waltzes, has literally mesmerized audiences by the millions and has become reality television’s true diamond in the rough. Already shows like Dancing With the Stars celebrates its 17th season, followed closely by So You Think You Can Dance?, America’s Got Talent and countless others globally.
Now the best of ballroom dancing comes to the Blumenthal . . .
For a special one-night-only ballroom and latin dance performance on Saturday evening, Feb. 9, starting at 8 pm, The Blumenthal Performing Arts Center in Uptown Charlotte welcomes the much-awaited “Fire and Ice” dance spectacular to its Booth Playhouse stage, showcasing the compelling live performances of Charlotte’s own Queen City Ballroom dancers, who’ll bring to the floor America’s most loved dances – the Cha Cha, Waltz, Tango, Jive, Paso Doble, Rumba, Salsa, Foxtrot, Quickstep and others.
Queen City Ballroom’s professional and amateur dancers include many of the top dancers in the country and the world. “Fire and Ice” will feature star performances by professional International Standard champions Andrea Zaramella and Kristie Simmonds, originally from Italy and Australia, who recently won the Rising Star Professional Title at the prestigious U.K. DanceSport Championships.
Other star performances include professional theatrical dance couple Luis Rivera and Dilandia Acevedo, destined to enthrall audiences with their daring fusion of latin rhythms and acrobatics, and Rising Star Professional Latin Champions Felipe Gonzalez and Olivia Wesolowski.
Showcasing choreography by Louis Van Amstel from ABC-TVs “Dancing With The Stars,” “Fire and Ice” is a ticket to a magical night of ballroom at its best, and audiences will revel in the sheer exuberance, passion and elegance of each performance.
