Elonzo
Elonzo is an independent rock band based out of Rock Hill, South Carolina area. In the heart of the Carolina Piedmont, they write songs about everyday life: sitting around on the front porch, watching the train go by, loss of loved ones, childhood, their hometown and their dreams. Elonzo’s music represents some of the most classic elements of the Southeastern United States: earnestness, good story-telling, and an awareness of tragedy that never seems too far around the corner. The band's sound can transform from stripped alt-country to a richer, more expansive vision that reflects the meaningfulness of the ties that bind us together. Mostly, it sounds like rock and roll. Sea Wolf Mutiny
The Sea Wolf Mutiny is a four piece Indie rock band based out of Columbia, SC. Drawing from a wide range of influences such as Neil Young, U2, Bob Dylan, The Beach Boys, Mewithoutyou, and the literary works of Flannery O' Conner, The Sea Wolf Mutiny has fused a Indie Folk sound to ecstatic rock. From their first house shows to their CD release of "The Last Season" their sound has been characterized by a tumble and swagger infused with a tenacious and belligerent joy that is as contagious as it is catchy. Their debut album "The Last Season" is the end of a long process of formation. Recorded at Archer Avenue Studios by Kenny McWilliams, the album is as much a beginning as it is a close to a tumultuous time in the band members lives. The album was largely written while Guitarist Danny Oakes lived in Charlotte, NC working in his father's print shop while lead singer Bobby Hatfield worked monotonous night shifts at a dead end job. Band practice was late at night and scattered across the midlands, in attics, garages, sheds, and houses; where ever they could manage to secure space without having the cops called on them (and sometimes they were). The band formed under these stresses, with Phil Kearse moving from bass to drums for the first time while completing two degrees at university. At the same time Dave Ohlman joined the band to play bass while balancing a career as a carpenter and master painter. "The Last Season" was finalized in the sanctuary of a half demolished church lent to them by a local Anglican parish, the resonance of liturgy lingering and mingled with a rising swirl of tone, brick dust and wooden rafters, is the emotional soul of the album. Released to a near sold out Crowd, the album has been gathering momentum and selling out as fast as they could make CD cases (all cases were screen printed and put together by hand). 'Quickly emerging as one of the most talked about bands in the columbia music scene, The Sea Wolf Mutiny's sound has been compared to Band of Horses, Fleet Foxes, and Coldplay. Paired with a energetic live performance fronted by Bobby Hatfield's contagious enthusiasm and 'one of the most beautifully compelling voices on the local scene' (Otis Taylor, The State), The Sea Wolf Mutiny is set to move into the next season with shows lined up around the southeast and more to come.... Of Sinking Ships
Of Sinking Ships started in 2001 as the experimental project of Chad Waldrup. Interested in exploring experimental music, Chad focused on creating beautiful and thoughtful music without the sometimes distracting presence of lyrical and vocal content. He went into the studio and recorded his music, playing every instrument himself. The collection of songs he then decided to compile into an album, and titled the project “Of Sinking Ships”. As Chad’s involvement at the time with Hopesfall demanded his full attention, Of Sinking Ships remained a side project consisting mainly of CDs sold at shows and occasionally via e-mail. In the summer of 2003, Chad made the difficult decision to leave Hopesfall and pursue a professional opportunity. As such, he has found time to begin writing more music. Starting back in 2001, after moving back to North Carolina, Chad began playing music on the side with good friend Johnathan Abernathy. Through several twists and turns involving different experimental directions, full time touring with Hopesfall, and playing with several different friends, they met up with Elijah Moseley who filled the empty spot on drums. Finally being a settled three-piece, Of Sinking Ships was free to become its current manifestation featuring Chad on guitar, Elijah on the drums, and Jonathan on the bass. Of Sinking Ships is now eagerly waiting performing and recording. Venue Information
