The focus for this month's meeting is MECHANICAL and CHEMICAL ENGINEERING via the world of WATER TREATMENT. Students will discuss and experiment with ways to clean contaminated water. As always, engineering based problem solving will be heavily integrated within the instruction period. This session will be very much hands-on in that participants will work in teams to build a water treatment model. The session will wrap up with discussion on how the water treatment model can be scaled up to support large cities, like Charlotte. This event is sponsored by the local National Society of Black Engineers and is at no cost to the student. RSVP is required to ensure that we have enough material to support the session. If you have any questions, please email NSBE-CAEC at email@example.com or call Clarence Lyons at 205.862.5097. I look forward to seeing you at the February Pre-College Initiative meeting!
