Project Art Aid is excited to announce our latest project, the “Queen City Soup”, micro-grant program to promote the arts in Charlotte.  We are continuing our series of community micro-grants for the arts modeled on others being held all over the country. Organizing casual community get-togethers to fund micro-grants for local causes is a proven low-cost idea that yields high impact results. The Next Event is Friday February 22nd at 6:00 pmHosted by The Gallery @ Packard Place Tickets are $10 when paid in advance, $15 at the doorDress is casual - parking free with pre-registration & parking pass (will be e-mailed to ticket purchasers the week of the event) We will serve appetizers and soft drinks Beer and wine are available with the purchase of a $15 "Beer/Wine Ticket" - 2 drinks (tickets given at the door) at this price The detailed proposals can be reviewed after January 25th at this linkWe plan to preview "5 Dollars for Your Story" a documentary film by Jose Vazquez funded by the July Queen City Soup micro-grantFinally - we would really appreciate your support in promoting Queen City Soup.  Please share our event on your social networks, and tell your friends to come out.  The more people that attend, the larger micro-grant we create!  We also accept donations above the $10 entry fee to create a larger micro-grant.  Remember ALL of the money we collect goes to fund the micro-grant that night. February's "Queen City Soup"  is limited to 100 guests.  About "Queen City Soup"“Queen City Soup” will consist of a get together at a local venue. Tickets will cost $10 per person when paid in advance, $15 at the door. During the evening, guests will hear 5 local artists present a 5 minute long pitch about an arts project they would like to do to benefit the city of Charlotte.   At the end of the night the guests will vote for which creative project should win the money collected from the ticket sales. 100 guests provides a micro-grant of $1000, awarded on the spot to the winning artist. This artist will present their results to the guests at a subsequent “Queen City Soup” event.Sounds like fun? We think so! Guests will get to eat, talk, and collaborate with fun and talented people whom we may not have otherwise met in an everyday setting. Plus, they get to see their money in action as one artist goes home with a micro-grant.
