Another position on the roster that's lack of depth reared it's ugly head in the first game of the season is the Linebacker corp. If the game against Rice is any indication, every 'backer taken in last years class is going to see playing time this fall.
The 6'2" 225-pound Outside Linebacker from La Porte was at one time considered one of, if not the, best recruit for 2014 in Texas. Unfortunately, academic concerns have caused a slight fall down most scouts' boards. 247Sports.com Composite Ranking still has Scott rated as the #11 player in the state.
Another consensus four-star Outside Linebacker in the books for the Ags, Walker checks in at 6'1" 220 pounds. When he committed back in October, Walker chose the Aggies over a handful of former Big12 rivals in the Texas Longhorns, Oklahoma Sooners, and the Texas Tech Red Raiders. As a Junior, he recorded 106 tackles including 6 sacks and 3 forced fumbles.
Listed as the #5 Inside Linebacker in the country by 247Sports.com Composite Ranking, Whitley was at one time considered a heavy Aggie lean before making a surprise commitment to Nick Saban's Alabama Crimson Tide back in May. Whitley was the Aggies' first offer on the inside and it's a safe bet that they won't give up until the ink is dry on signing day.
In-State Guys I Like:
The three-star from Klein Oak is a physical presence in the middle who excels against the run. After a knee injury in 2012, some feared his lateral agility was in jeopardy and it's thought that is what kept A&M; from ever extending a scholarship offer. However, Oklahoma State had no worries about the knee and secured Mabin's commitment back in early August over Bedlam rival Oklahoma.
Another Inside Linebacker on the Ags' list but yet to be offered is Argyle's Sam Sizelove. The 6'3" 230-pound Kansas State commit also has offers from Texas Tech, Baylor and SMU among others. I wish I had highlights to break his game down but his HUDL highlights are private. I did find this jewel on Youtube that all Aggies should enjoy. (Sorry Jake Raulerson)
