Tip: Hazelnuts

Hazelnuts, also called filberts, have a bitter brown skin that is best removed. Heat the nuts at 350°F for 5 to 10 minutes or until the skins begin to flake. Roll the nuts, a handful at a time, in a clean, thin dish towel and rub vigorously to remove the papery skin.
