  • Lance Armstrong is the most disliked athlete in America, according to public surveys from Nielsen/E-Poll. The results were published on Forbes.com. Public opinion really soured on Armstrong after his tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, according to the surveys.
  • In a virtual tie for first place, by Manti Te'o ranked as America's second most disliked athlete, according to the Nielsen/E-Poll surveys. Te'o, a Notre Dame linebacker and Heisman trophy runner-up who fell from great popularity to disdain after he talked publicly about his grief over a girlfriend who turned out to be nonexistent.
  • Tiger Woods was the third most disliked athlete in the U.S., according to Nielsen/E-Poll surveys. Woods has not really recovered image-wise since his gross infidelities were revealed a few years ago. He has also won fewer tournaments since that time.
  • The fourth most disliked athlete in the U.S. was Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, according to Nielsen/E-Poll surveys. Apparently, his aloof personality -- or the perception that he is aloof -- is a turn-off. Maybe his image will warm up now that Cutler has a son with former
  • LA Lakers forward Metta World Peace has been relatively quiet and well-behaved this NBA season, but he still comes in as the fifth most disliked athlete in America, according to Nielsen/E-Poll surveys. (Before his name change, he was known as Ron Artest.)
  • The sixth most disliked athlete in America, according to Nielsen/E-Poll surveys, is NY Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez. Rodriguez has had several high-profile romances since his divorce. It's not clear how popular he is with his exes.
  • NASCAR driver Kurt Busch has been known to explode at reporters. His temper has not earned a lot of fans, apparently, because he is the eighth most disliked athlete in the U.S., according to Nielsen/E-Poll surveys.
