David L. is co-host for Mornings on 96.1 The Beat (WIBT-FM).

You can't get any more local than David L. He was born in Monroe, grew up in Wingate, and a graduate of Western Carolina University with a degree in Radio/TV, Communications.

David had spent most of his life in North Carolina until about 11 years ago when he had tried his skills at comedy, where a funny thing happened - the audience laughed.

"Tommy Davidson had seen me perform and took enough interest in me, to tell it to me straight," said David L, "work clean, Davidson said, so you can work everywhere. If you don't you're just another of many comedians limiting themselves by language and content." It would appear the advice paid off, as Heffron Talent, the largest booking agency for comedy in the U.S., has David L. on their roster of A-List comedians.

When 96.1 The Beat Program Director, Rob Wagman, saw David L on stage at the Comedy Zone, he knew immediately that he wanted him for mornings at the BEAT. "David had the crowd in stitches for a straight hour, and at least 20 minutes of that included bits making reference to Charlotte and the local market," Wagman said. "On David's next trip through Charlotte, I got to hear him on the radio. He was promoting his comedy show. That's what closed the deal for me."
