ALBEMARLE, N.C. -- Albemarle welcomed Kellie Pickler home Saturday.

The former 'American Idol' contestant waved to fans during a short parade, then signed autographs and sang for the crowd.

Pickler talked to Eyewitness News and said she was shocked to see the city turn pink just for her.

There were hot pink ribbons and bows, and even the water in the fountain was Kellie's favorite color.

She said that even though she's been to Hollywood, she's still a hometown girl at heart.

The city also declared Saturday "Kellie Pickler Day" and presented the singer with the keys to the city.
