Orlando, FL -- (Sports Network) - Tiger Woods announced on his website Tuesday that he and wife Elin are expecting a second child.

"Elin and I are proud to announce that we are expecting our second child in late-winter," Woods said on his website. "Elin is feeling great and we are both thrilled."

Daughter Sam Alexis was born in June of 2007.

Woods has been out of action since June of this year due to a knee injury. He is done for the season after having surgery just two weeks after defeating Rocco Mediate in a playoff to win the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines.

"This has been a year of contrasts," Woods said. "While my injury has been disappointing and frustrating, it has allowed me to spend a lot of time watching Sam grow. The injury has been a blessing and a disappointment.

"I'm already starting to wonder if Sam's sibling will be a boy or a girl."
