A list of some prominent mom bloggers and their take on back-to-school season
My parents raised their daughters with a sense of volunteerism, from birth. Over the years my volunteering has taken on various forms, especially in the classroom.
Not only am I a PTA mom, the past two years I have been the Vice President and Fund-Raising Chair and NOW – I am the PTA President.
This year I plan on supporting my school by making posters, fliers, banners and signs. It's one way I can help my school save money as well as something I'm able to do easily from home. I also want to make some fun teacher appreciation printables that anyone can print and giveaway to their favorite teachers.
The kids and I are both getting excited about school starting back up in just a short week. They are missing their friends and teachers and I’m missing a little extra quiet time. I also truly enjoy getting out of the house and getting involved at the school. Working from home limits my adult interaction therefore volunteering at the school and taking part in the kids extracurricular activities gives me the socialization that I love while being able to spend time with the kids I adore.
Just as I imagined I would be married by 21 with kids by 23 (wrong and wrong), I pictured myself as the consummate Home Room Mom. You know…. the one up at school 3 days a week, planning every holiday party with gusto?
I both rejoice at the thought of having my children at school all day, and at the same time worry about the way my children are spending their days, and who they are spending them with.
I know. Shocker, right. The music freak "slaves" to raise money for her son's school by throwing a rock concert every year.
