See larger-than-life glass sculpture exhibit at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden

BELMONT, N.C. — To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden will host an awe-inspiring, larger-than-life botanical glass exhibit featuring sculptures by Seattle-based artist Jason Gamrath this summer.

“Grandiflora: Gamrath Glass at the Garden” is on display through Sept. 29.

>> DSBG named one of America's 'most beautifully designed botanical gardens'

The exhibit features dozens of vibrant sculptures, including towering 10-foot orchids, vivid pitcher plants and energetic Venus flytraps.

A Seattle area native, Gramrath began studying glass sculpting at the young age of 15 and has worked and trained with many renowned artists, including Preston Singletary, Karen Willenbrink, Richard Royal, Ross Richmond and Sally Prasch. His work is collected internationally and the pieces on display at the Garden will also be available for purchase.

"Grandiflora" can be viewed daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and also from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, May 30 through Sept. 29 (with the exception of June 16, when the garden will be closed for a private event).

In addition, visitors can explore the Butterfly Bungalow during the day and enjoy drinks and live music in the Beer Garden on select evenings.
