Festival in the Park celebrates 55 years

Festival in the Park returns for its 55th year to bring three days of music and art to Freedom Park September 20-22.

>> Carolina BalloonFest set to color the sky

The festival will feature live music and entertainment, more than 175 artisans displaying their works, and more than two dozen food vendors.

Admission is free.

Festival hours are 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Big crowds are expected and parking near the festival in Charlotte’s Dilworth neighborhood will be very limited. If you’re going, consider taking the LYNX light rail to the East/West Boulevard stop. Shuttle vans will provide roundtrip transportation between the East/West Boulevard light rail stop and Freedom Park for $5 per person or $10 per family.

Limited parking is also available at Holy Trinity Catholic Middle School at 3100 Park Road and Myers Park Traditional School at 2132 Radcliffe Avenue for $10. Shuttle vans will provide roundtrip transportation to the park for free.
