A's Reliever Foulke Activated Off DL

POSTED: 3:27 pm EDT May 9, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Oakland Athletics activated reliever Keith Foulke from the 15-day disabled list on Friday.

He had been on the DL since April 19, retroactive to April 11, with neck stiffness.

In seven games this season, Foulke has recorded one save while giving up two runs in seven total innings, with six strikeouts and one walk.

The 35-year-old reliever came out of retirement to return to Oakland, where he was an All-Star in 2003. He signed a free-agent contract with Cleveland on January 4, 2007, but announced his retirement on February 16, 2007.

Foulke has compiled a 41-34 career record with 191 saves and a 3.29 ERA in 595 games with Oakland, Boston, San Francisco and the Chicago White Sox. He was a key member of Boston's 2004 World Series run, posting a 1-0 record, three saves and a 0.64 ERA in 11 postseason outings.
