Friday's tax filing deadline is causing some anxiety for some last-minute filers -- especially those who could lose refunds.

While millions are down to the wire on their 2004 tax returns, the window is about to close on 2001. The federal government announced it's holding more than $2 billion in refunds for people who haven't filed a 2001 tax return.

If you want to collect that money, that year's return must be filed with the Internal Revenue Service by April 15. If not, the money becomes property of the U.S. Treasury.

The IRS said in some cases, individuals had taxes withheld from their wages or made payments against their taxes out of self-employed earnings but had too little income to require filing a tax return.

They estimate that half of those who could claim refunds would receive more than $484.
