What Are Some Of The Nextel Cup Series Tracks?
As mentioned in a previous article, the Nextel Cup season kicks off every year with the sports biggest race, the Daytona 500. Daytona is one of 22 tracks used during the 36 race schedule. Most of the races are held at oval tracks, while two are on road courses.The tracks also vary is size. Talladega is the biggest at 2.66 miles, while Martinsville is the smallest at .526 mile. Some of the other oval tracks include Lowe’s Motor Speedway (Concord, NC), the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway (The Brickyard), Atlanta, Bristol, Chicagoland, Dover, Richmond, Pocono, and Darlington.Nextel Cup drivers also test their hand at two road courses per season. The 2007 season included road course events at Infineon Raceway in California and Watkins Glen in New York.
