Cavs' Gibson Undergoes Surgery

POSTED: 6:35 pm EDT June 10, 2008

(Sports Network) - Cleveland Cavaliers guard Daniel Gibson had a successful surgical procedure on his left ankle on Tuesday.

Dr. Thomas Clanton performed the arthroscopic debridement to relieve pain and inflammation, as well as loose body removal, at the Roger Clemens Sports Institute at Memorial Hermann.

This past season, Gibson played in 58 games during the regular season, averaging 10.4 points and a team-best .440 three-point percentage. He also averaged 9.0 points and 2.5 assists in 11 postseason games before separating his left shoulder and missing the rest of the playoffs. The Cavaliers eventually lost their Eastern Conference semifinal series in seven games to the Boston Celtics.

Gibson is expected to start rehabilitation next week and be prepared for the next NBA campaign.
