Charlotte Bobcats 2009 Draft Preview

(Sports Network) - Like most Larry Brown coached teams, the Charlotte Bobcats excelled at the defensive end last season but struggled on the offensive end.

Raja Bell remains one of the better perimeter defenders in the league while Emeka Okafor is the elite shot blocker inside, erasing mistakes. Boris Diaw and Gerald Wallace are Brown's top offensive options under contract but neither is a go-to guy or closer down the stretch of close games.

Anyone who can put the ball in the basket on a consistent level should be a priority but there are few can't miss scorers in this draft.

At some point, Brown has to realize he needs a wing player with some serious offensive skills, and the 6-foot-10 Earl Clark from Louisville is a small forward who can fill it up, has great vision and strong interior passing ability.

Players under contract: C Alexis Ajinca; G D.J. Augustin; G Raja Bell; F Boris Diaw; C DeSagana Diop; G Dontell Jefferson; C Nazr Mohammed; C/F Emeka Okafor; F Vladimir Radmonovic; F Gerald Wallace

Draft picks: 1st round (12th overall), 2nd round (40th overall, 54th overall)
