1 Teen Dead, 1 Injured After Rock Hill Crash Caused By Man Accused Of Drunken Driving

A Rock Hill high school student has died following an accident where police say a drunken driver hit her and a friend head-on.

Kimberly Hobbs, 16, was taken off life support Wednesday afternoon and pronounced dead. Amanda Trader, also 16, is listed in serious condition at the hospital.

Hobbs’ family is devastated.

“I wish I was dreaming, but I have to go to bed knowing my daughter won't be back,” said her father, Michael Hobbs.

He clutched a class ring an 8 inch by 10 inch picture of the teen.

“This youngin – that’s my entire life,” he said.

Hobbs said his daughter was riding in a car driven by Trader on Tuesday afternoon; the two were on their way to Kim’s grandmother’s house after school when the crash happened.

Police say 49-year-old William Brown was driving drunk while headed south on Neely Store Road. They say he swerved over the center lane and rammed into the girls' car.

The crash so violent, glass and car parts were strewn yards away, and the sides of lawns were ripped up with tire marks.

Now Michael Hobbs feels like his heart has been torn out, and like the shattered windshield, it won't ever be pieced together.

Brown is charged with driving under the influence. More charges may follow.
