CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- After a long holiday weekend, about a million people across the country took to the skies Tuesday to head back home. Passengers we talked to at Charlotte Douglas International Airport say it hasn't all been smooth skies.Low clouds and some rough weather in Philadelphia, Newark and New York delayed flights coming into and leaving the airport. Some people waited hours to get home.Others left the airport empty-handed after landing because their baggage never made it to their final destinations. One traveler says, "They lost her luggage. It was a direct flight from Minneapolis to Charlotte, and the bag didn't make it for some reason."Flight experts say more than 300,000 people were flying just in the Carolinas. They say with so many travelers trying to make very tight connections, late luggage is not unusual. There were long lines outside baggage claim offices, as people waited to see where their bags were and when they may arrive.
