CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A group of West Mecklenburg High School students caused a ruckus early Tuesday morning, leading to a number of police officers showing up at the school, a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools spokesperson said.According to spokesperson Tahira Stalberte, an altercation in a nearby neighborhood over the weekend flared up again between some of those involved at the start of the school day. Six to eight students were in the verbal confrontation inside the school, but the fight did not become physical.Stalberte said no one was arrested, but those involved will be disciplined and some could be suspended.Police said they sent six units to the school when the altercation was reported because they thought it might escalate. Many parents who saw the police presence at the school as they dropped off their children said they were upset by the incident and the lack of information administrators provided them. The school day proceeded on a normal schedule after the incident.
