Demolished Lancaster Store Had Asbestos

LANCASTER, S.C. -- Asbestos was discovered in the roof of a Lancaster store that was destroyed by a train last week.The convenience store on South Main Street has already been leveled, but state health officials had to inspect the debris for potential hazards. Officials with South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control say the debris will be sent to a landfill in Kershaw County.Crews demolished the store before the inspection because it was deemed unstable after the collision.RELATED STORY: Train Crashes Into Lancaster Convenience Store; Building To Be Demolished
