CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- You could ride Charlotte's light rail sooner than expected. The line is supposed to open around Thanskgiving, but Tuesday night, Eyewitness News learned Charlotte city leaders say the uptown side is ahead of schedule. They're trying to figure out whether it makes sense to open that section as soon as it's finished, even if the Pineville side isn't ready.Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory said, "Sometimes if you only open half the system, it ends up costing you or it won't show success."Some uptown business owners, like Chuck Richards, want to see the line open sooner. Richards said, "It's fantastic news that it may be arriving a little earlier than we anticipated."City leaders plan to make a decision within the next three months.
