LANDIS, N.C. -- A mother is speaking out about two men who allegedly saw her daughter's MySpace page and came to South Rowan High School to pick her up Tuesday.“She's been violated. How do you console her when she is going through this?” she said.Police think two men saw the 14-year-old's MySpace page online. Her site said she went to South Rowan High School and played volleyball. The 19-year-old and his 60-year-old father went to the girl's volleyball game Thursday night. The very next day, a student spotted the two wandering the hallways after school. Rita Foil with Rowan-Salisbury Schools said a student became suspicious and informed the assistant principal.“He acted quickly and stopped a potential danger from happening at our campus,” Foil said. The men said they were there to pick her up. The school resource officer took down their information and escorted them out.The girl's mother said she wishes she would have monitored her daughter's MySpace page.“I take full responsibility. And I've beat myself up every day since this happened. I was told all about MySpace,” she said. Now, Foil said the school is planning a program for students to warn them about the dangers of posting personal information online. She said this is a lesson. Even a little personal information can put someone in danger.“They think of it as a buddy system. I don't think they think about the bigger danger out there. I hope this will be a warning to everyone,” she said. The district attorney's office is waiting for the school resource officer and the State Bureau of Investigations to finish up their investigation into this before they decide if charges will be filed.
