More Athletes Booted Off CMS Teams

POSTED: 10:28 pm EST December 12, 2007
UPDATED: 9:16 am EST December 13, 2007

The sign outside East Meck High School reminds students about the basketball game Friday night, but one player will be missing. Over at Mallard Creek High, the basketball team will be down a player too.

They are the two most recent players ruled ineligible by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.

In the last month, a total of 10 athletes have been ruled ineligible by state rules: Six football players, three basketball players, and a swimmer.

An investigation started after a South Meck football player was found to be ineligible in November. The team was forced to forfeit its entire season.

C.M.S. will continue its review, and promises a plan to handle the problem in the near future.

East Meck and Mallard Creek will have to forfeit the games in which the two athletes played.
