Frightened Woman Describes Bleach Attack At Charlotte-Area Mall

Tuesday, January 22, 2008 – updated: 12:13 am EST January 23, 2008

A woman who was doused with bleach and beaten, talked for the first time about the attack Tuesday with Channel 9 Eyewitness News.

Police charged the woman's coworker, Dyshericka Bell, 19, with assault and battery in connection with the attack last week.

The two women worked at a pretzel shop inside Carolina Place Mall in Pineville and detectives say Bell attacked the victim just days after Bell had been fired.

The victim doesn't speak much English but her husband did tell Eyewitness News, "she made her drink bleach from the bottle. She put the bottle in her mouth and make her drink bleach."

"When she was on the floor, she was kicking on the face, kicking on the back, arm where ever she could kick her," the victim's husband said.

The victim told police she and Bell argued a few days before the attack but the victim says she still doesn't understand why Bell targeted her. "I think, why? Why? Why me? I don't understand why it happened. I don't understand anything because i don't have a problem with anybody," says the woman.

We've learned this isn't the first time Bell's been charged with assault and battery. She's faced the same charge three other times over the past two years.
