Statesville 2-Year-Old Treated For Alcohol Poisoning

POSTED: 10:50 am EST February 15, 2008

A 2-year-old Statesville boy is in the hospital recovering from alcohol poisoning.

Police said the child got into a bottle of Crown Royal in his parents’ bedroom and drank some of it shortly before 2 p.m. Thursday. His mother found him unconscious with the empty bottle next to him and called 911.

Paramedics rushed the child from the Margaret Drive home to Iredell Memorial Hospital. The boy was later transferred to Wake Forest University Baptist hospital for further treatment.

Police and the Department of Social Services are investigating. So far no charges have been filed.
