CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Homicide detectives say they're making good progress in finding the person who killed a 92-year-old woman in southeast Charlotte.

Mildred Clontz was repeatedly stabbed by a man who forced his way into her home Sunday night on Knickerbocker Drive.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say the man robbed her and ran.

The victim's grandson, Tim Clontz said "only someone with no regard for human life could do something like this."

Clontz and other family members have come in from all over the country.

"I'm learning more about how nice a person she was," said Clontz, "When I called her to see how she was doing, she'd just say she was sitting around doing nothing. Now I find out she's volunteering at a local church, cooking there, helping underprivileged children."

While detectives wouldn't elaborate on their progress in the case, they were still hard at work at police headquarters late Tuesday night, more than 48 hours after Clontz was attacked.
