CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Troopers said aa vehicle driven by a drunken driver collided with a road sweeper overnight on Interstate 77.

The crash happened before 3 a.m. Thursday near mile marker 25. Troopers believe the driver ran off the road and hit the street sweeper.

Troopers said the northbound lanes of I-77 were blocked for almost 45 minutes while crews cleared the accident.

The driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He will be charged with DWI.
