IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. -- Josh Parlee walked in silence as he was led to jail by a Troutman detective. The 19-year-old South Iredell High School student is charged with murder in the death of 15-year-old Micael Lane.Officers said Parlee sold the teen a potent drug called oxymorphone. It's what doctors said Lane took just before he died from a drug overdose.Tom Lane, Micael's father, said he’s devastated by his loss. "Nobody expects to get a phone call that says your child's dead. There’s no way to describe it. It's the worst feeling you could ever have," he said. Lane said everything went wrong one night in January. His son was spending the night at a friend's house in Troutman. Investigators said both smoked marijuana and took the oxymorphone. They overdosed on the drugs and the teens were rushed to area hospitals.Micael Lane's friend survived, but he did not. Now this father said his goal in life is to get lawmakers to make drug laws on juveniles tougher. He agrees his son made a big mistake, but said he shouldn't have had access to the drugs."Call it peer pressure, call it stupidity, he took something he shouldn't have taken," Lane said.Lane said he thinks about his son every day, and he said the pain of his son's loss is as intense as ever.Eyewitness News asked what he would say given the chance to talk to the teen accused of giving his son the drugs that killed him."He needs to pay for what he did, and he needs to know the consequences of his actions. My son died for $5," Lane said, referring to how much officers said the teens paid for half a pill.Parlee's father said his son has not been convicted of anything and he's innocent until proven guilty. Parlee is being held in the Iredell County Correctional Facility under a $300,000 bond.PDF: Rx/OTC Misuse: Guide To Keeping Your Teen Safe LINK: Info On Oxymorphone LINK: Info On Teen Abuse Of Prescription Drugs
