Child Hit By School Bus In Northeast Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A school bus ran over a child on a bike in northeast Charlotte on Monday afternoon.The accident happened on Aventide Lane near Harrisburg Road and Interstate 485. Rescue crews had to remove the girl from under the bus. A MEDIC spokesman said the girl is 5 years old.A medical helicopter airlifted the child to the hospital. Police said her injuries are life-threatening.A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools spokeswoman said there were one child on the bus at the time of the crash.Eyewitness News will have more information as it becomes available.
