CONCORD, N.C. -- A storm filled with golf ball-size hail thundered down on hundreds of people this weekend. One of the victims was Tina Leone and her family. They drove up Interstate 85 Sunday evening. They pulled off the interstate as their vehicle was getting slammed."It just sounded like something was coming through the windshield. It was horrible," Leone said.Dozens of people felt the wrath of the violent storm as it quickly ripped across the Charlotte area. Travelers and neighbors took the hit, as well as new and used cars at some dealerships.Leone drove her damaged truck to the Ben Mynatt dealership early Monday, where she works. Ironically, sales manager Joe Bonadonna said the dealership is one of the lucky ones that the storm miraculously missed."We really dodged a bullet here. We didn't damage our vehicles. Everything is in pretty good shape," he said. Some other dealerships in Concord weren't as fortunate but no one wanted to talk about it on camera. As for Leone, she won't know how much damage was done to her truck until she speaks with an insurance adjuster.Employees at Ben Mynatt had a meeting Monday morning to discuss plans to get their vehicles to safety next time in case another similar storm happens in the future. The key, Bonadonna said, is to get vehicles in garages as quickly as possible.
