MATTHEWS, N.C. -- A little girl who went missing in Matthews has been found safe.

The girl’s mother told police she turned around in the Aldi grocery store on West John Street near N.C. 51, and when she turned back the 5-year-old was gone.

Officers searched inside the grocery store and the Rite Aid in the same shopping center. The child was found inside the Aldi.
